Imagine all of the points that you look for in a drummer, multiply them exponentially, and then add a groovy pocket so hard it hurts! Toss in some serious education, experience and musicianship. What you get is Ed Mortenson.
A Vancouver native, Ed hails from a well-studied and diverse musical background. Attending the Red Deer College Music Program as a Percussionist and Vocal major, Ed's passion for knowledge led him to the Grant MacEwan Jazz Program in Edmonton, Alberta. After graduating this program with honors, Ed continued his study and also received his diploma in Recording Arts and Live sound.
Playing 5 star hotel circuits all over the Middle East and Asia, In 2005 Ed returned to Toronto Canada and is currently one of the busiest and most requested live and studio drummers in the GTA, regardless of genre; funk, jazz, rock or even percussion, Ed handles them all with an incredible musicality and feel. 2008 Ed was honored to play for the Canadian troops stationed in Afghanistan.
As a studio musician, Ed has recorded for some top notch producers like John Whynot (Big Wreck, Blue Rodeo, The watchman, The Austin Powers Soundtrack) and Darius Szczepaniak (Big Sugar). Ed is an integral part of the band HAARD providing that high energy HAARD hitting force of rock and roll.
